Fujitsu is investigating the possibility to envision and design a new working-style inspired by the emergent qualities of social infrastructures like the internet, by the growth of new media formats and interfaces and by the development of high-performance and miniaturized components and technologies. Relational scenarios based on emerging cultural behaviours and trends, media/tool visions based on the potentiality of net technologies, service experiences based on emerging interaction models and brand strategies based on unexpected partnership and alliances, are only some example of the potential directions that the Master projects could envision.
The integration and contamination of Design, research, business and technological perspectives are the key factors for the development of innovative concepts, scenarios and solutions. On/Office means to consider in the Design process both the aspects connected to the integration of media and tools in a networked environment (on) and to the ubiquitous and distributed dimension of the new working practises (off).
On/Office emphasizes the fact that the characteristics of the work environment both in terms of physical settings, interfaces, interaction modalities and software support are crucial for the definition of a new working-style. On/Office envisions, beyond the actual workplace model, a multi-place, ubiquitous, flexible, temporary and adaptive work environment in continuity with SOHO (Small Office Home Office) and electronic nomads philosophies. On/Office means to consider the possibility to manage the qualities and the characteristics of the work environment in a fluid way, adapting its features and shape according to the alternation of the supported activities and to the mutability of user needs. Potential key issue are: Relational WorkWare (tools and media suppporting social and community practises), Active WorkSpace (physical settings for a dynamic work environment), Services at Work (net based devices as interfaces for advanced services), Working Alliance (brand stretching and strategic partnerships for new working-business).

  Alibaba +

Alibaba+ improves the potentiality of a digital system through a physical environment that contains the qualities of an ephemeral architecture (so the evocation of flexibility, the scenographic value and the surprise feeling) that belongs to the users and allows them to play with it by building their own working space.
The operating system is the structure of the material elements, but if net is its metaphor then every combination is valid and free.
Information is the third dimension and participates to the visual quality of the environment: it becomes part of the structure and can also be the medium to provide the space with new light configurations and scenography.

  Chameleon

Mobile working requires a mobile support. Chameleon is morphic, context reactive cover for digital devices. It modifies its shape and appearance depending on the content received trough the device and the environment settings. Like a chameleon it disappears inside spaces integrating its behaviour with the spaces characteristics. Chameleon has been imagined to make easier, more productive, and primarily more valuable, collaborative working activity among temporary geographically dislocated team. Chameleon creates a new working style offering a support for a diffuse, soft and integrated access to collaborative activity.

  Leporello

Leporello system is composed of three main tools plus one bridge device. The first, Leporello, is an accordion-like exploration tool used to passively browse and review work processes. The second, Clipboard, is an information transmission tool, that can be used to actively document information, store data, share ideas, and transmit with other users. The third, a desktop Calendar, is a management tool that systemizes work activities. A digitally enhanced Paperclip is the document/personnel identity device which activates and bridges the three tools. Leporello system imagines a set of artefacts that substitute PC functions creating new modalities for communication and knowledge based on common and familiar forms.

  i_met. ideas meter

Fujitsu would introduce a new way to experience offices environments. An alternative working methodology that would propose a radical change in the way people interacts with space and information in order to enhance creation.
A strong impact on the spatial esthetic values, proposing new shapes and images in the office space.
An environment that would be charged with awareness signals > lights > sounds > in order to induct diverse ritual working choreographies. Knowledge and ideas flowing through the venue turning the exchange in to a visible, physical and almost a tangible fact.
A new vision... measuring the ideas exchange by feeling the space.

  Café

Café is a neighborhood joint that supports flexible workstyles of the future. Café lets people take care of business in a connected, collaborative and comfortable environment. Connections are a key factor in creating success in the future economy. As an increasing amount of work is done outside the office, we need to support better face-to-face contact, opportunities for collaboration and build more effective business networks. Café fills this need, opening opportunities for productive encounters and encouraging high-performance, contributive workstyles in a relaxed, fully integrated setting.

  Mumbl&Mumble
'
M&M intends to provide the members of a same office with a means to capture, share and explore their collective knowledge archive and experience and to help them interpret and preserve the richness and complexity of their personal culture. M&M aims in this way at improving the quality of the work process, to allow a personal and collective enrichment of knowledge, modifying the definition of spare time and “on office” in the way to let everybody identify themselves as “workers in progress”, in a continuous exchange of information.
M&M displays the capabilities (skill) of each worker and generate modalities to visualize knowledge flow.
M&M provides new way to manipulate and show personal and public information.
